Which cal state university would be best for sports journalism?

March 112010

I am considering being a sports writer for a big magazine or newspaper and was wondering which csu would be best for it? For example, which csu would "Sporting News Magazine" or "Sports Illustrated" actually respect. People keep saying uc’s have more prestige but i dont think i would get in to the well known ones.

I think CSUN is good, but you’re have going to have to work VERY hard to get a job at Sports Illustrated or even Sporting News. Those are VERY prestigious sports writing jobs, especially the former.

can you go to a university and play sports for a nearby community college?

March 52010

I play fastpitch, and I really want to go to a good school, but the school I’m looking at doesn’t offer competitive fastpitch. However, the nearby community college does. Can I play for them and attend the good college nearby?

Very unlikely. Sports are typically funded by the school offering them, and so they can’t let outsiders play.

Perhaps you can start a club sport at the good school, or convince the intramural department to offer it.

Is Ohio State University Great To Watch And Play Sports?

March 12010

I am thinking about attending Ohio State University. I love to watch and play football, basketball, and baseball. My question is how good is Ohio State University at these sports. Is the campus nice and stadiums and arena. THANKS!!!!!

People have had many good things to say about OSU over the years.

Plus, they have the nation’s largest enrollment with 50,000 students.
They pack in 107,000 fans for every Buckeye home football game, with a great team.
Their men’s and women’s basketball teams are on top of their conference right now, and they might challenge for a national title.

The baseball team does okay in their conference. But when it comes to the Big Ten conference, in baseball the Big Ten doesn’t usually figure into the national picture.

How likely is it to get in-state tuition for sports at Indiana University?

February 272010

I currently live in Illinois, and am planning on attending Indiana University and doing diving there. However, I am worried that tuition will be ridiculous without in-state tuition (23,000). How likely will I get in-state tuition for participating in sports?

Playing sports has nothing to do with in-state tuition. State schools receive most of their funding from the tax payers of the state. Out of state students are not paying to fund the school, and thus have to pay more. If cost is an issue, look at the state schools in Illinois,
