Please include a link to an actual study on this if possible. My cousin seems to think he can win money sports betting in the long run. I would like to see stats on this

I really don’t think there’s ever been a study, but most individuals that are very knowledgeable with the sports betting industry will tell you it’s around 1%. Again, I have no evidence to back it up, but I would say it’s very close to that or even less. If you want to be successful at sports betting than it is at least a full time job. Trust me, it’s not easy and can be an emotional roller coaster that most individuals can’t handle.

Will sports betting be legalised or not in Malaysia? The question has resurfaced in the wake of a parliamentary reply from premier and Finance Minister Najib Abdul Razak that once again leaves the matter wide open.

Replying Mahfuz Omar (PAS-Pokok Sena), he said the government has yet to award any licence for betting services tied to the ongoing Fifa World Cup 2010.

Sports Betting. When is the best time to bet on a Sportsbook Straight Line?

I know they fluctuate, and that the casinos become more educated about the game/match the closer it gets to game time… Is it generally true that you get the best odd (chance of making the most money) if you wager when the bet becomes available. I.E. try to be the first person to bet on the line? Does the number of people betting on the line, or which way they are betting effect the line?

I’ll see if I can answer each one of these questions. Here goes.

Is it generally true that you get the best odd (chance of making the most money) if you wager when the bet becomes available. I.E. try to be the first person to bet on the line? Not necessarily, it really just depends how the odds match up with what you think they should be (i.e. is there value according to your numbers). You may get the best odds at any time, however professional gamblers will typically try to bet the initial odds/lines ASAP if they are finding value. On the other hand, you might find the best odds right before game time. I guess what I’m trying to say is that there’s not a certain "best time" to get the best odds since they will continue to fluctuate depending on the market, up until game time.

Does the number of people betting on the line, or which way they are betting effect the line? It’s not necessarily the number of people, but rather the amount of money and who’s betting it. Public money (squares) won’t effect the line nearly as much as sharp money/professionals. More public money coming in on one team will slowly move the line throughout the day while sharp action can move the line immediately.
